Mr. W's Physical Education & Health Class

Bio
Hello, my name is Josh Wisniewski but my students call me Mr. W.  I was born and raised in the great state of Wyoming.  I grew up in Rock Springs enjoying sports, hunting, fishing, camping and family.  I decided I wanted to be a teacher and a coach when I first started college at Western Wyoming Community College where I wrestled for two years and earned an Associates of Science Degree.  I continued my education to Chadron State College in Nebraska where I also wrestled for two more years.  I finished my education at the University of Wyoming receiving a Bachelors Degree in Teaching Physical Education with Endorsements in Health Education, Coaching Wrestling and Coaching Football. 12 years ago I started my teaching career at Jackson Elementary and have been here ever since.  I also coach wrestling at Green River High School and football at Lincoln Middle School.  Entering my 12 year of teaching in Sweetwater County School District #2 I still strive to offer the best physical and health education to my students.

I have a beautiful wife Sara, who also teaches at Jackson, and two adorable boys Oliver 7 and Ryder 3.  In our spare time we enjoy family, friends, going to movies, video games, hunting, camping, fishing and sports.

Teaching Philosophy
The ultimate aim of our Physical/Health Education Program is to provide students with the skills necessary to live healthy, active lifestyles. Regular involvement in physical activity has been proven to increase test performance, raise self-esteem, reduce the incidence of life threatening disease and produce a positive impact on the social and emotional well-being of an individual.

Our Sweetwater County School District #2 Program is a well organized, sequential program that will allow the student to develop the skills necessary to build upon in subsequent years. Students will progress a variety of units such as Fitness, Individual Sports, Team Sports, Project Adventure, Large Group Activities, and Dance. Emphasis is on the skills necessary to participate in team sports-including kinesthetic and traditional sports skills as well as learning the rules and regulations of the various sports' activities. These skills are presented through cooperative activities which fosters the students' ability to be a positive member of a team.

Our goal is to create an array of enjoyable, challenging, and meaningful activities that will provide the building blocks necessary to prepare them for Intermediate School Physical/Health Education, Middle School Physical/Health Education, High School Physical/Health Education and beyond.
